Not only have I been to the Mule Pass Tunnel, my father was the Construction foreman on the job. This was his last completed job as he died in October of 1958. My godparents - Charles and Viola Suffield lived and owned the property known as "The Top" which is located on top of the Divide or the top of Mule Mountain. We lived there while my father built the tunnel. During and after it's construction there was a lawsuit brough by Charles Suffield against the State because the tunnel tapped into his water well, which to this day still leaks water down the sides of the tunnel. I love this place and to me it brings back memories of a better time in my life and of my father and the Suffields. Wonderful place, Wonderful people.
