Grace VanEaton was the teacher at Asper School in the late 1940's. My brother, Fred, about 5 years old, and I, approximately 7, used to play in the school yard while we waited on our mother to finish grading papers and etc. We were playing ball one day when our ball got caught in the fork of a large and tall tree. While I was teaching at Carrollton High School. 1962 - 65, I stopped by to check on the ball. It had deteriorated but was still there! During the late '40's, I believe Livingston County had it's first "bookmobile". I was excited because I love to read. As I recall, the first prototype had windows that would provide access from the outside but shortly thereafter, another model was introduced so you went inside and selected your books that you wanted to "check out". That was much nicer! Earl N. VanEaton, Ph.D., Univ. of Missouri, 1970
