Davis Creek is currently being mined by the Greene Bros Mining Co. of Fairbanks AK. Most of the gold is coming out of the upper bench, mainly along a secret fault line, known only by the bros. Mike Greene sluiced out a 16.1 gram nugget close to this claimed fault line, in 2011. Only the mouth of Davis Creek has been mined to any extent, mainly the low grade gravels which were tested by local geologist Don Keel to average $28.00 per yd. This low grade deposit is very extensive along the course of the South Fork Koyukuk and mainly runs between Davis Ck., and Bear Ck., (also known as the Ron Hodges Memorial Claims), which depth to bedrock between 50ft. and 3 ft. The bedrock is chlorite schist with a quartz blowout at the waterfalls 1/2 mile up from the mouth. The gold is embedded up to five feet deep into the schist and according to the well known Alaskan prospector/explorer/miner, Paul Barelka, the schist quite possibly could be one of the sources of metal on Davis Creek. Greene Bros Mining Co. is currently exercising an active plan of operation and an E.P.A. wastewater discharge permit. The bros employ tiered tailing ponds and diversions to settling areas before recycling their wash water back to their trombel. Future plans include signing an additional competent operator to assist their operation, but this could quite possibly be the hardest mining of all. Future stories of mining and Sasquatch encounters coming soon, also will upload many mining photos.

Equipment used that year was a caterpillar D-6 bulldozer, 950-B rubber tired loader, and a 3000 gal. per minute water pump washing the gravel through a Fairbanks made "Hector" Grizzly and 40 ft. long quad channel "Hector box". After setting up this plant in Davis Creek, the three man crew produced 144 troy oz. in one 9-day test run (last week of September).
