I was intrested in finding out if its true that Cannon Creek Lake in Bell county was made over a town or township.

This is a pretty lake with nice fish, but I personally wouldn't recommend going to this lake. There is an 8ft wide launch ramp with no turn around and large drop-offs on both sides. There is no courtesy dock. While there, I was warned local vandals and vagrants would break in and raid your vehicle and within 10 minutes of being on the lake I saw this for myself. I was also advised not to stay overnight and to come armed at all times. It seems that this is more of a swimming hole for the locals who leave little room for trailers and vehicles. If you still choose to go visit Cannon Creek Lake, I wish you the best of luck finding it on the unmarked backroads and warn you not to bother asking locals, as they are little help in finding it.

It's true that Cannon creek has no courtesy dock, no room for boat trailers, no turn around and there are no signs pointing the way. But there's GREAT fishing, hiking, 4-wheeling, boating, swimming and yes even camping. See, the thing is, the folks who grew up spending summers at Cannon Creek like it that way. If you want a big commercialized recreational lake I would recommend Lake Cumberland. They have all the things that you seem to want.
P.S. The best way to get to the Creek is on the back trails. But don't ask me where they are :)
