Weeks Cemetery Homecoming takes place once a year, being third Sunday of October. There is a gathering of families that have love ones buried in the cemetery north of the Weeks Chapel Baptist Church on the same grounds. Each family will bring their lunch that will be spread after a short business meeting at 11:00. After lunch, the ones that love singing will gather back in the church and have a good afternoon of singing. Anyone is invited, individuals, groups, just bring your instrument and have a good time.

I am Bettye Ann Weeks Parrish, I was born and grew up in Weeks Community in the early 1940-50's. My mother and daddy carried me and my siblings to Weeks Chapel Church each Sunday. There is a cemetery at the church that many of my Weeks Family are buried there. Many more of the early families are buried there(Robinson, Hilliards, Gilchrist, Harris, Lavines, Rogers, Coles and many more. Church is still held weekly(Sundays and Wednesday night. The Texas Historical Commission Marker at the cemetery states: The land was part of an 1838 grant to James Weeks(d.1863 in Jasper County, becoming a part of Newton County in 1846.Weeks(my great grandfather)built a home about one-half mile south of the site and married Catherine Hardy(1831)in 1847. They are presumed buried in the Hardy Cemetery, about one-half mile east. In 1887 Week's son James Robert(1850-1936) and his wife, Melvina Robinson(1840-1919)Weeks, granted one acre at this site to the Methodist Episcopal Church South. A crude building was erected to serve as a church and school for area settlers. When a native of the area, Jim Eudaley(1866-1893), was killed in a logging accident near Kirbyville(26 mi. S), J.R.Weeks,by then a Methodist Minister, suggested a burial behind Week's Chapel. The cemetery subsequently served surrounding communities, including Brookeland(16mi NW), Farrsville(5mi. SE) Harrisburg(2 mi. SW), and Weeks(2mi N), and now contains over 350 burials. In 1904 a new church and school was erected, and the congregation changed its denomination by organizing the Missionary Baptist Church. The later consolidated with Farrsville, the church and cemetery remained the focus of an annual homecoming (1836-to Present 2015).
