I was born in a two story, six room log cabin, at the head of Brackens Creek, West Virginia, on November 28, 1944. Doctor Hughart came by horse and buggy, from Clifftop, to deliver me. My mother said I was "breech" and had to be turned in her womb. The lighting was by kerosene lantern and no running water. Water was carried from a hand dug well with a hand pump on it. This was on an 89 acre farm dad and mom owned.
